Pre-ectal syndrome

The pretectal syndrome is a clinical picture that results from damage to the pretectal structures. The rostral interstitial nucleus (on are damaged mainly reticular formation ) of the medial longitudinal fasciculus (riRLF) and the interstitial nucleus of Cajal.

The main symptoms are:

The name was suggested by the authors of an initial description from 1969 in monkeys , and the syndrome in humans was described in 1976.

As a purely clinical description, the term is unspecific and rarely used.
