Examination Office (University)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An examination office (also an examination secretariat or examination office ) is a permanent establishment at a university that is responsible for the administration of the examinations. One of the elementary tasks of an examination office is to store the results of examinations performed by a student, to issue certificates or to prepare examination statistics . The tasks of an examination office result from the examination regulations and the respective department statutes.

tasks

An examination office manages examination-relevant information about a student. Therefore, registration for an examination or partial examination as well as de-registration must be made at the examination office. In some departments, however, it is permissible to process this registration through the chairs organizing the examination . The office keeps files on all students and can therefore, for example, confirm all performance at any time. The examination office also prepares all certificates and certificates (before they are signed by the responsible university professor) and creates examination statistics.

development

Until a few years ago, students were forced to go to the examination office for each examination (including enduring the long waiting times that this entails). Today, all examination registrations and confirmations are often carried out electronically in integrated university information systems . This means that a student can register for an exam using a web browser, for example . The examining professor (or an authorized person) will also send the result of the exam electronically. In almost all examination offices, electronic examination registrations and performance records are common today. Only examinations such as diploma , master’s , bachelor’s or master’s theses still have to be registered and handed in personally.
