from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Praemunitio ( Latin praemunire : take precautions ; praemunitio : the take precautions , provision ) is a rhetorical figure, which the speaker a possible counter-argument anticipates to invalidate this in advance and secure as his own statement. Typical formulations are:

  • "One could argue against that ..., but ...";
  • "To anticipate the objection ..."
