Impact test

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The impact test is a test method to determine the resistance of sand to abrasion. For use in road construction, fine aggregates must have a certain degree of resistance to frictional stress in order to achieve the greatest possible durability .

The experiment is carried out with the aid of a ball mill, which essentially consists of a cylindrical container. The sample to be examined (mass 100 g) and porcelain balls are in the container. The container is closed and set in rotation. After a test duration of 1000 revolutions, the sample is examined according to its grain size distribution and the abrasion value is determined from this .
