Location and description

The Prater Disc Golf course is located in the Vienna Prater on Hauptallee at the level of the A23 (south-east bypass) in the area between the upper and lower haystack water. It was built in 2011 by the municipality of Vienna , this first construction phase included 7 lanes. In autumn 2012 the course was extended by a further 7 lanes. Overall, the Prater Parcours is a 14-lane course, each with two levels of difficulty by means of two drops at different distances. The course is available to users free of charge and around the clock.

The course was opened on January 19, 2013 at the “Vienna Open (ing)”, with 46 players taking part and playing 1x15 and 1x13 lanes.

The tracks are in the range between 48 and 110 meters. Each lane includes a long and a short drop (for beginners).

The level of difficulty of the Prater course is not too high. The tracks are all flat and have few obstacles.

The Golden Disc Golf Club (GDGC) from Vienna played a key role in the creation of the course . It has been used by many players since then and is happy about its steady growth. The construction of the course new associations have been created in Vienna and also in other states - such as Wooden Impact Disc Golf , Easy Flyers Vienna , SSC Hutbanditen , Putterfly Disc Golf , Elevators Disc Golf . This high rate of start-ups is evidence of the great acceptance of the course in the Viennese disc golf scene.

Tournaments & league

The course has already been used for various tournaments. The first tournament, the Vienna Open on January 19, 2013, was a ranking tournament and was organized by the Golden Disc Golf Club . Since 2015 there has been a league operation in the form of the Prater Disc Golf League . A tournament series with a new game mode, the Birdiehunt mode, was launched at the Prater Parcours. This took place in autumn 2014 and 2015 in the form of a series of three and was organized by Putterfly Disc Golf .

A night at night tournament - "Nightflight", organized by Wooden Impact - has already taken place twice. The course was set in scene with light sources.
