Premarital Relationship Enhancement Program

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Premarital Relationship Enhancement Program ( PREP ) is communication training for couples that is designed to prevent later conflicts early on in a relationship . It is one of the best-known, best-researched programs with this objective and the only one that showed results up to the turn of the millennium that can be proven in empirical long-term studies for more than six months.

The program is designed to teach couples techniques for conflict avoidance, communication and problem solving. The program usually begins with a full-day session, followed by two two-hour sessions. Originally developed for young couples who want to get married , the application has now been extended to longer-term relationships that are not in a conflict situation. The program is not recommended for acutely critical relationships.
