Premios Max
The Premios Max are the most important award for the performing arts in Spain . They are comparable to the Molière Theater Prize in France, the Laurence Olivier Award in Great Britain or the Tony Award in the USA.
history
In 1998 the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE) decided to launch the award ceremony. Subsequently it took place in different locations in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Bilbao, Valencia, Vigo, Zaragoza, Guadalajara, Gran Canaria and Córdoba.
The winners are chosen by colleagues in a two-round process by secret ballot. The trophy in the shape of an apple with a mask was designed by the poet and artist Joan Brossa . The award ceremony always takes place in spring.
