Preysing monument

The Preysing monument in Plattling commemorates the patron of the city and honorary citizen Johann Conrad Graf von Preysing-Lichtenegg-Moos . It was originally created by the Munich sculptor Georg Busch and erected in 1907 on the town square in front of the town hall.

The city commissioned the monument shortly after Preysing's death. The foundation stone was laid on March 14, 1907. After three months of construction, it was ceremoniously unveiled on June 9, 1907. It shows a bronze figure of the Count in original size on a stone base about two meters high. The family's coat of arms is affixed to the front of the base and the inscription CONRAD GRAF VON PREYSING - HALT GOTT VOR AVG in gold letters .

During the Second World War , the memorial was melted down in 1942 to build cannons from the material. It was rebuilt on May 19, 1983. The original plaster cast that was stored at Schloss Moos served as a template .
