Primary bibliography

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A primary bibliography is a bibliography that has been created from an autopsy . This means that the publications listed in the bibliography were directly available to the author of the bibliography. In contrast to this, the authors of secondary bibliographies take over the titles of the publications to be cited from existing bibliographies, i.e. without the publications themselves being available to them. Secondary bibliographies therefore require significantly less effort.

Primary bibliographies are not to be confused with primary literary bibliographies in which the primary literature available by an author is cited. These too are sometimes referred to as primary bibliographies.
