Privilege

In the Middle Ages, a privilege was, in the general sense, a form of document issued by the papal chancellery .

One differentiated:

• the solemn form of the Privilegium Maius
• the simple form of the Privilegium Minus

While the Privilegium Minus was replaced by the Breve , the Privilegium Maius was replaced by the bull .
