The pro aere foundation ( Swiss foundation for smoke-free air and against tobacco addiction; Fondation suisse pour un air pur et contre le tabagisme; Fondazione svizzera per una aria pura e contro il tabagismo; Fundaziun svizra per in'aria pura e cunter il tubachissem; Swiss Foundation for a Smokefree Air and Against Tobacco Addiction ), formerly the Swiss Association for Non-Smoking SAN, Association suisse des non-fumeurs ASN, Associazione Svizzera dei Non-fumatori ASN, is a Swiss non-profit organization (NPO) of tobacco prevention .
According to the deed of foundation, “in the interests of public health throughout Switzerland, regionally and locally a) for the rights and protection of the non-smoking population, b) for the promotion of a smoke-free environment, c) for the implementation of preventive measures, especially for children and Adolescents to refrain from smoking, as well as generally for the concerns of non-smoking people. "
The foundation is non-profit as well as politically and denominationally independent. It describes itself as the largest Swiss foundation for the protection of passive smokers and for tobacco prevention in children and adolescents.
Their activities primarily consist of legal advice, business advice, the publication of leaflets for those affected, as well as information for the media, authorities and politicians. pro aere initiated and promoted the parliamentary initiative «Protection of the population and the economy from passive smoking» by the parliamentarian Felix Gutzwiller - u. a. with the financing of a legal opinion by Tobias Jaag, lecturer at the Chair of Constitutional, Administrative and European Law at the Institute of Law at the University of Zurich - which led to the “Federal Law on Protection against Passive Smoking”.
