Production Performance Management Protocol

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PPMP ( Production Performance Management Protocol ) is an IT protocol created by Bosch for Industry 4.0 for communication between machines.

function

Technically speaking, the data is sent as a JSON payload via REST , AMQP , MQTT or other methods. Http or https can be used for this. Communication via PPMP is a one-way street. It always goes away from the machine to a recipient. The recipient is the client and, in the simplest case, provides a REST API.

The protocol is being promoted by The Eclipse IoT Working Group and is available under an open source license for everyone free of charge. The first publications are from 2016.

PPMP is available in the versions 'Machine Message', 'Measurement Message' and 'Process Message' with differently defined structures.

At the moment version 2 has been approved, but version 3 is already in preparation.
