Product line analysis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A product line analysis (PLA) is a method for assessing the ecological, economic and social effects of a product. It assesses a product with regard to all effects of raw material procurement, its manufacture, its processing, its transport , its use and its recycling or its disposal .

The product line analysis differs from the life cycle assessment or the life cycle assessment (LCA) in that the LCA only refers to ecological aspects. In this respect, the product line analysis relates to all three pillars of the three-pillar model of sustainability , while the LCA is limited to the ecological pillar.

Either a mind map or a matrix is created to visualize a product line analysis . The matrix is divided into the three major aspects of environment , economy and society .
