The product safety portal is a German Internet information platform provided by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health ( BAuA ).

The product safety portal provides information on aspects relating to the safety of products. It is limited to products that are subject to the Product Safety Act. In particular, u. a. Food , animal feed , pesticides and medical products not included. The information relates to notes on safety and health protection, other quality aspects, such as B. the service life, play no role here. On the one hand, products that are used in the world of work are of particular interest, but also, in principle, all products that are either intended for use by consumers or that, after careful consideration, can be expected to end up in the hands of consumers.

Database

In its "Dangerous Products" database, the BAuA publishes product recalls, product warnings, prohibition orders and other information on dangerous individual products that are covered by the Product Safety Act. This product safety database can also be used to call up reports to the EU's RAPEX information system from the last few years that relate or relate to products marketed or found in Germany, not only of a technical nature, but also to foodstuffs or consumer goods .

The product safety portal is operated by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs . Responsibility lies with the BAuA in the “Products and work systems” department and there in the “Basic questions of product safety ” group.
