Program complaint
The Program Board is in Germany, an appeal to the citizens against violations of statutory programming principles of the television , the radio broadcasting or by the broadcasters online offers popular (the so-called Telemedia ).
The formal legal remedy is the complaint in principle within the framework of the supervision of the state media authorities over the private broadcasters .
The public service broadcasters also have this option to lodge a complaint. For example, the former ARD correspondent Volker Bräutigam has filed a number of program complaints against ARD since 2014 because of allegedly biased reporting and news suppression.
Program principles
The complaint can be successfully filed if program principles are violated. Above all, these are the general program principles:
- Respect and protection of human dignity
- Respect for moral, ideological and religious convictions
- Journalistic due diligence (based on the press code )
- Respect for the legal system, these include in particular the regulations for the protection of minors , advertising and competitions
