Program system for data and network control
The program system for data and network control (PDN for short) was a Siemens product . It is the operating system for the data transmission front end computers and data station computers in a Transdata network.
The program system for remote data processing and network control supports all applications of the communication computer. It is a multi-computer operating system with excellent communication capabilities. Not only application programs, but also the operating system components themselves are users of the communication system. All processes are message-controlled. With regard to its structure, PDN has a clear stratification in functions, which largely corresponds to the ISO model . The system offers the required real-time behavior with multiprogramming and multitasking , dynamic memory management and a reloading technique for programs. All common data transmission routes and procedures are supported.
