Demarche

The demarche (from French démarche = "gait" or faire une démarche = "take steps to achieve a goal") denotes a protest note , i.e. a diplomatic act of mostly clear objection or declaration by one state to another. The purpose of the demarche is usually to influence the political attitude of the recipient state towards a situation or to work towards an action or omission by the recipient state.
