Lower jaw prosthesis with 2 prosthetic saddles

In dental prostheses, a prosthetic saddle is the part of the prosthesis that rests on the jawbone. The term “saddle” comes from the fact that this part of a prosthesis resembles a saddle in cross-section . It usually consists of denture plastic ( acrylate ). If the load on a prosthesis is not borne by elements directly supported on the teeth, the prosthesis saddles absorb the chewing forces. A dental prosthesis can have several prosthetic saddles of different sizes.
