Process portal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A process portal enables access to business processes including all necessary information in a web application and can be part of a company portal.

Explanation

A process portal is often equated or confused with a company portal. Various services and applications are made available in a company portal. The process portal, on the other hand, is responsible for executing company processes and is therefore part of a company portal. It uses the available applications and services in the context of a defined and workflow-supported process. The term process portal is usually used in the areas of service and administrative processes.

In a process portal, processes are not only documented, but - as the previous paragraph suggests - automated. In contrast to the often found digital organization manuals, the processes are actually carried out here - always with the right information at the right time in the right place.

In connection with the higher-level software category of Business Process Management Suites (BPMS), process portals are a component of the process life cycle. This consists of modeling the processes with a modeling tool, executing the processes in a process portal and monitoring and controlling the processes using key figures in a management cockpit. With the knowledge gained from these key figures, the process model can then be optimized, etc.

With the help of a process portal, the path from a functionally driven to a process-oriented company can be implemented step by step. Process portals can be supplemented with functionalities and processes very flexibly and dynamically. This enables a smooth transition in this environment, which is sensitive from an organizational point of view.
