The editorial team has been awarding the Fenomen Przekroju Prize since 2005 .

Beginnings

In the first years of its existence, Przekrój became a window to the west in the Iron Curtain under the editorship of Marian Eile and Janina Ipohorska. It published translations by Western authors, fashion photos from Paris fashion magazines, articles on life in the West, on Picasso's Guernica and films by Marcel Carné. The paper enjoyed a fool's freedom. Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński was a permanent member of the staff and had two permanent headings: Listy z fiołkiem (Letters with the Violet) and Teatrzyk Zielona Gęś (Little Green Goose Theater). On May 1st and the anniversary of the October Revolution, propaganda articles about the happy life of the Soviet people were dutifully published. The three-picture cartoons "August Bęc-Walski" about an always nagging capitalist were also part of the mandatory fee. Nevertheless, the sheet was attacked by party officials for alleged snobbery. After the death of Stalin and a loosening of the censorship Przekrój lost importance.
