Pub crawl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pub crawl is an English term for a pub crawl. Pub is the English equivalent of the German pub , crawl means "crawl" and jokingly refers to the fact that as the event progresses, the tour participants can only move with difficulty or even crawling as the event progresses due to their alcohol consumption .

As a foreign word (hence as Anglicism ), the expression pub crawl has recently spread far beyond the English-speaking world and is now an established name for organized tours through the local nightlife , at least in all tourist strongholds where English is used as the lingua franca . These events are mostly free of charge, but a tip is expected for the "tour guide", but many organizers make their profit primarily through agreements with the innkeepers, in whose establishments the drinking tourists are smuggled. In many cities affected by overtourism , such as Prague , Tallinn and Berlin , tourist pub crawls are now considered a nuisance .
