Pull hitter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In baseball , a pull hitter is a player who usually hits the ball into the side of the field from which he is striking. For example, a right-handed player who hits from the left side of the plate usually hits the ball on the left side of the field, i.e. to third base or into left field .

A dead pull hitter is a player who always hits the ball into the side of the field from which it is striking. This usually means that such a player rarely hits an outside pitch.

Relocation

When a pull hitter is on the plate with a high batting average , it is common for the defending manager to use defensive tactics known as "shifting". With this one or more infielder and / or outfielder move to the side of the field that the hitter normally hits.
