Pulmonary banding

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As pulmonary Banding refers to a operation in which the main trunk of the pulmonary artery ( pulmonary artery ) is concentrated artificially with a ribbon. In the case of a heart defect with a left-right shunt , the banding protects the pulmonary circulation from the increased blood flow and the otherwise threatening pulmonary hypertension . The ligament is removed again as part of the subsequent corrective operation for the heart defect.
