Pyramidon (organ)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pyramidon is the name of an organ register that was occasionally built in England in the middle of the 19th century. It is a labial part of 16 ′ (or 32 ′) in the pedal . It was invented by Frederick Ouseley and built by B. Flight. The pipes were open funnel-shaped, very wide and short. The dark sound was similar to the drone . However, the register did not get beyond the experimental stage and was no longer used in practice because of the ultimately unsatisfactory sound properties.
