Pyrobolt

Pyrobolts (also: explosive bolts) are connections that can be separated in a controlled manner . For this purpose, a small explosive charge is detonated within this bolt without causing fragments flying around. They are used, for example, to separate components in space travel or to drop external fuel tanks on combat aircraft.

Alternatively, cutting charges are also used to separate rocket stages .
