The four soloists of the Quartet New Generation (called QNG for short ) played recorders of all types and sizes. They devoted themselves primarily to contemporary music, but also combined it with early music. The quartet was founded in 1998 by Andrea Guttmann, Hannah Pape, Karolina Bäter and Susanne Fröhlich at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam . In 2003, Heide Schwarz joined the group instead of Karolina Bäter. In 2010, Petra Wurz took over from founding member Hannah Pape. In April 2014 the ensemble disbanded after 15 years of existence and concluded its successful career with an anniversary farewell concert at the BKA Theater in Berlin.

The Quartet New Generation performed in most of Europe, the USA, Panama, Chile, the Caucasus, Singapore and Japan.

The quartet has worked with composers since its inception. Countless works were written for QNG between 2002 and 2014.
