Landscape refers to a paper , screen or image format in which the width is greater than the height . It is the common format used on computer screens , television, and photography . The aspect ratios 4: 3 and 16: 9 are particularly common here . In the field of digital image and word processing, this format is also referred to as "landscape".

In portrait format , the width is smaller than the height. It is standard for exercise books , for documents (mainly in A4 format ), for most books, etc. In the field of digital image and word processing, this format is also referred to as "portrait".
