Cross-sectional film
The cross-sectional film is a non-fictional film form created in the 1920s that follows an associative montage principle without focusing on specific events or protagonists . The subject of a cross-sectional film can thus be read as an abstract, aesthetic representation of certain spaces. A chronological sequence of actions that are not directly related can function as a narrative structure.
Some cross-sectional films can also be referred to as compilation films, since they use raw material that is already available.
