Quintus Atrius
Quintus Atrius was a in the 1st century BC. Living Roman military who lived in 54 BC Took part in Caesar's second campaign in Britain .
After the Roman fleet landed on the British coast, Quintus Atrius was commissioned by Caesar with ten cohorts and 300 horsemen to guard the ships anchored on a gently sloping open stretch of beach, while Caesar himself advanced inland against the Britons with his remaining force drove them out of an entrenchment in the woods. The following night a heavy storm affected numerous Roman ships. Quintus Atrius immediately dispatched cavalrymen to relay the news of the damage to his fleet to Caesar. The great general had to break off the pursuit of fleeing enemies and returned to his ships.
There is no record of the further activities of Atrius during the British expedition and nothing else is known about his life.
