The Religious Studies Media and Information Service e. V. (abbreviation REMID ) is a non-profit association based in Marburg , which aims to compile, collect and publish statistics and information on various religious aspects and subject areas. The main focus is on the numerical recording of the religious affiliations of the residents of the Federal Republic of Germany , the imparting of religious studies knowledge to promote tolerance, religious freedom and a peaceful coexistence of religions in a pluralistic society.

REMID was founded in March 1989 by seven members. According to its own statement, the association wants “to convey information gained through religious studies to the public. This is intended to contribute to perceiving the diversity of religious beliefs and being able to deal with them appropriately. This intention also includes a social positioning. "

REMID sells numerous information materials and documentation on the subject of religion and publishes its own series of publications. A standpoint independent of religious beliefs and beliefs is the goal according to the organization's statutes. Various public events and projects on the subject of religion were carried out or supported by REMID. In 2003, for example, the Migration and Religion Network was launched together with the Federal Government's integration commissioner. Among other things, the project “World Religions Learning Workshop”, the religion information platform until 2007, conferences such as B. 2006 on religions in schools or the exhibition “Faces of Islam” 2008.

On site, an archive with a documentation center offers unique access to the “gray literature” of all kinds of religious groups. Together with the Marburg Religious History Collection , REMID has organized the lecture series “Religion on Wednesday”, which has existed since 2006. Since 2011, REMID has also been running a blog in which articles or interviews with scientists appear regularly.
