RTGSplus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Between 2001 and 2007, RTGSplus was the liquidity-saving gross real-time procedure (RTGS) of the Deutsche Bundesbank for processing domestic and international payments. It was put into operation in 2001 as the successor system for ELS and EAF .

The system was characterized by the following features:

  • Submitted orders were dispatched immediately in real time (also through counter payments).
  • If there was sufficient cover, an immediate transfer of central bank money took place.
  • For the received subscriber, an RTGSplus credit was immediately final and available without restriction.
  • RTGSplus used internationally used SWIFT standards in the file formats.
  • RTGSplus was open for payment processing on all TARGET business days from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ECB time. As a result, RTGSplus was only closed on a few public holidays except Saturdays and Sundays.

RTGSplus was with effect from 19 November 2007 with the new gross clearing system TARGET2 of the Eurosystem ( ESCB replaced). All urgent EUR payments in the European currency area can be processed via this platform.
