RZ 65

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The RZ 65 on-board rocket was a twist-stabilized unguided air-to-air rocket with a solid rocket motor. Development began in 1941 under the direction of Klein at Rheinmetall-Borsig .

The air combat missile RZ 65 was designated as "RZ = smoke cylinder" for camouflage within this development series.

Only a few specimens were made for testing. In comparative shooting with the MG FF , the RZ 65 achieved poorer values, which meant that only a small number were used for troop trials. The field of application of this on-board missile was originally ground targets, but by changing the warhead it could also be used against air targets.
