Race for Water
The Tûranor PlanetSolar starts in Hamburg.
The Fondation Race for Water was founded in 2010 with the aim of preserving clean water.
Race for Water is a Swiss foundation for keeping the oceans clean and for clean water. She takes special care of the oceans polluted by plastic waste and has initiated expeditions for this purpose.
In 2015, the first expedition of around a year began to investigate marine plastic pollution. The second expedition began on April 11, 2017 with the energetically CO 2 -neutral Race for Water renamed Tûranor PlanetSolar .
For the new mission, the Tûranor PlanetSolar was additionally equipped with a Skysails sail and a power-to-gas system with downstream energy storage.
