The Radar Battalion RadB is an association for air surveillance and is therefore a functional component of the Goldhaube , Austria's military air surveillance system .

General

The command of the radar battalion is based in the Schwarzenberg barracks in Wals near Salzburg . The battalion's badge depicts two combat aircraft above a radar screen.

In addition to the fixed and relocatable radar stations , the radar battalion consists of low-level aircraft detection radar systems , the relocatable command centers for air surveillance and organizational elements of the ICT troops (including mobile radio ) as well as the organic components of operational support .

Since 2019, Colonel Wolfgang Schweighofer has been in charge of the radar battalion; before that, Colonel Markus Kronreif led the battalion. Its predecessor was Colonel Alfred Moser.
