Radio Dimensione Suono (RDS) is an Italian radio broadcaster based in Rome .
history
The station was founded in Rome in 1976. After the current managing director Eduardo Montefusco took over the station in 1981, RDS became one of the most popular radio stations in the Italian capital. In the mid-1980s, the Suono Network was broadcast across Italy under the new name Dimensione .
In the 1990s, the program concept 50% musica italiana - 50% musica internazionale (50% Italian music - 50% international music) was introduced and the slogan 100% grandi sucessi (100% hits) , which is still popular in Italy today, was introduced .
After being renamed RDS , the station first achieved first place in the Italian audience survey Audiradio in 1997 and also in the following years . During this time, RDS began as the first Italian radio station with hourly news broadcasts with 24-hour operation.
RDS today
Although RDS has changed its motto several times, they stayed with the principle 100% grandi sucessi - 100% hits . RDS is always one of the three most listened channels in Italy and is currently supporting the aid organization Save the Children in building schools in Tigray . Furthermore, the construction of houses for needy families is supported nationally by the organization Exodus di Don Mazzi .
