Andreas Mühlfeld

Andreas Mühlfeld (born July 8, 1961 in East Berlin ) is a German table tennis player . He was one of the best players in the GDR in the 1980s and won the GDR individual championship three times in a row.

National successes

At the national championship of the GDR, Andreas Mühlfeld won a total of eight titles. From 1985 to 1987 he was GDR individual champion three times in a row. He won the double competition in 1983 (with Bernhard Thiel ) as well as in 1988 and 1989 (with Michael Rosonsky ). He won the mixed title in 1988 and 1989 (each with Gabriele Oerlicke ). He had to be satisfied with second place several times: in singles in 1981, 1984 and 1990, in doubles in 1981 and 1985 (with Bernhard Thiel) and in 1989 in mixed (with Gabriele Oerlicke).

Mühlfeld played for the GDR clubs BSG Turbine Gaswerke Berlin-Köpenick (together with his brother Henri) and after renaming BSG Turbine Energiekombinat Berlin. In 1991 he moved to TTC Düppel Berlin, later to Finower TTC and Tennis Borussia Berlin (2007). Until the 2013/2014 season he was part of the squad of TTC Börde Magdeburg. In the 2014/15 season he plays in the 2nd team of Füchse Berlin in the Oberliga Nord-Ost. After a season in the Association League Berlin (at his parent club, which has now been renamed Köpenicker SV Ajax), Mühlfeld played two seasons in the Association Oberliga Ost of the NTTV with the Cottbus table tennis team from 2016/2017. He then moved to TTC Börde Magdeburg. There he plays in the 2020/21 season in the back pair cross of the 1st team in the Oberliga Mitte (5th division). He still has a positive game record and is one of the most experienced and successful players in his age group in Germany.

International

Since the GDR isolated itself internationally in table tennis from 1972, Andreas Mühlfeld had no opportunity to distinguish himself internationally. After the fall of the Wall he took part in Gothenburg in 1990 for the GDR in team, singles and doubles competitions at the European Championship .
