place

The cycle path chapel is located directly on the Kurweg, near the connecting path to Immanuel-Kant-Straße, Erbendorf.

The location was chosen so that the line of sight leads to the main churches of Erbendorf, the parish church of the Assumption of Mary and the Martin Luther Church.

Artistic design

The cycle path chapel consists of four granite walls that are connected by yellow glass windows and a glass cross made of stainless steel. According to the artist, the band plays with light like this: “This [s] points at the same time to the breadth and infinity of faith. Towards heaven, this light-open space should lead us into consciousness of the intact creation as the basis of all life. "

A granite block serves as a seat and a bilingual board on the Kurweg contains the artist's thoughts.

Others

The cycle path chapel was soiled several times and smeared with sentences critical of religion, most recently in 2018.

In the Corona year 2020 it was part of the station path with flower decorations, which served as a replacement for the Corpus Christi procession .
