RainbowCrack is a computer program that generates rainbow tables to crack passwords. RainbowCrack differs from the «conventional» brute force method in that it uses long, fully calculated tables, called rainbow tables, in order to drastically reduce the time and number of attempts to try out a password. RainbowCrack was developed by Zhu Shuanglei and is an implementation of Philippe Oechslin's Ophcrack , a cyber attack using cryptanalysis, which is optimized for time-storage compromise .

Some organizations have made rainbow tables for RainbowCrack free on the Internet.
