Ramp (radio)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the radio scene , ramp refers to the part at the beginning of a piece of music that has not yet been sung. Sometimes this part is called an intro , the German equivalent is Vorlauf or Germanized Rampe .

Lower forms

The ramp talk is usually an (on) moderation during the first few seconds of a piece of music, i.e. during the ramp . This technique enables smoother (musical) transitions between jingles , moderation and music program .

A ramp kill is the - mostly unintended - situation when the (on) moderation of a radio moderator goes beyond the ramp and thus also covers a piece of the sung part of the piece of music.

Practical implementation

If pieces of music are played digitally in the radio studio using a radio automation system , these files can be precoded. The moderator is then shown the length of the ramp in the form of a countdown on the screen. So that person does not have to rely on knowledge of the pieces in order to end the ramp talk at the right time.
