Ranz und May is a cabaret duo from Potsdam , consisting of Michael Ranz and Edgar May.

history

Michael Ranz and Edgar May got to know each other in 1997 while recording the SFB program "Satirefest". In 1998 there was a first joint program produced by the Potsdam Cabaret , of which Ranz was a permanent member of the ensemble until 2000. Thirteen other joint stage programs and a television broadcast have followed to date.

The artists

Michael Ranz (* 1964 in Belzig / Brandenburg) studied 1986–1990 at the Berlin Academy of Dramatic Art and then worked as an actor at the Satire Theater in Potsdam. He also had minor supporting roles in films (e.g. "The Tango Player", "Praxis Bülowbogen") and from 1991-1993 his own radio broadcast at Antenne Brandenburg. Ranz participated in the DFF sports satires and the ORB short satires ("Döner for one") and had television live appearances on ORB and H3. He also appeared at the SFB satire festival and the MDR satire programs “Lachbar”, “Der Landreiter” and “Rettet mein Leibgericht”.

Edgar May (* 1960 in Weimar / Thuringia) studied music at the Franz Liszt University of Weimar from 1978 to 1983 before becoming a drama director at the Erfurt Theater. From 1985 he worked as a composer, musical director and stage musician at the Schauspiel Bonn, the Staatstheater Wiesbaden a. a. From 1990 he was the musical accompanist for the chansonette Susanne Seidler in five programs. Until 1998 he was the musical director of various revues and shows at Haus der Springmaus Bonn. Since 1998 he has been a member of the ensemble at the Cologne improvisation theater 3 Kölsch a shot .
