Rapsody

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rapsodie reactor (by Reacteur RAPide à SODIum Experimentale ) was the first research reactor for fast breeder technology in France .

Rapsodie was built at the instigation of CEA top official George Vendryes in the Cadarache nuclear research center and was used for research purposes from 1967 to 1981. In 1981 the reactor was shut down, as further, much more modern reactors ( Harmonie , Masurka , Phénix , Superphénix ) had been built, and Rapsodie could no longer keep up with their standard .
