Speed
The speed is a parameter of external ballistics and describes the elongation of the trajectory of a ballistic projectile.
With a horizontal shot, the dimensionless speed number indicates the ratio between the range of the shot and the distance between the top of the track and the line of sight:
The speed number is always greater than zero and the higher the speed number, the longer the trajectory.
Speed is an important parameter of firearms. The flatter the trajectory, the greater the area of direct fire in which the effort to aim a weapon at a target is least and external disturbances have the least effect.
The pace increases with increasing initial speed and cross-sectional load . Guns with high speed values are summarized in the flat-fire guns category .
