Rasmus Viberg (born April 2, 1990 ) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and record producer.

biography

After finishing school, Viberg trained at Furuboda musiklinje, a private adult education center for music, in Malmö. In middle school he founded his first band, Oldschool. Their song The Drug was part of the sampler Burn All the Small Towns, Vol. 1 by Panic & Action Records (Junkyard Entertainment). With the band he took part in the music direct competition. a. the opportunity for some gigs in Africa.

He gained greater fame in Sweden through his participation in the Melodifestivalen 2011, the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 . There he took part with the title Social Butterfly (written by Amir Aly and Henrik Wikstrom ). There he was eliminated in the semifinals. Viberg, Aly and Wikstrom released the album Lost In Sound in 2014 under the project name Trigono.

Shortly thereafter, he formed the short-lived band Dinner For Dinosaurs, which released the EP Jurassic Funk in 2011 .

In 2012 Viberg was selected as the new singer for the band Hurricane Love, which also included Nina Knutsson, Johanna Alexson, Tobias Ekqvist, Magnus Adler and Robin Knutsson. Viberg replaced the previous singer Benjamin Högh there. On August 12, 2012 the band won the international part of the Emergenza band contest in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. For this they were allowed to appear on the main stage of the Taubertal Festival for 30 minutes . Hurricane Love gave a total of more than 100 live concerts and toured among others in Finland, England and especially Germany. There they made an extensive tour in August 2013. In September 2015, the band announced their split, caused by disagreements over the style of the first album.

In 2015 he founded the band moment with Joel Strömgren and Jacob Lindvall, which developed from a songwriting project for other artists. So far, the group has released five singles and got a record deal with Warner Music Sweden in autumn 2016 . On October 13, 2017, the new single The River , which the band wrote for the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo, was released. At the end of December 2017, Moment were nominated for the Scandipop Award as best band. Since keyboardist Lindvall left Moment in 2018, Viberg and Strömgren have continued the band as a duo.

Viberg announced in early 2018 that in addition to Moment, he would be working on a side project as a solo artist under the project name Next To Neon. The first single, Looking At You , was released in early March 2018 .
