history

John Keith, 3rd Earl of Kintore , had the building constructed at his own expense between 1737 and 1747, after he was elected mayor of Kintore. The town hall once also housed the prison of Burgh Kintore. An annex was added to the left in the late 18th century. The bell was cast in 1702.

description

The town hall of Kintore stands on a place called The Square , a traffic island at the junction of Forrest Road with the B987 in the historic center of Kintore, which is now on the eastern edge of the village. In terms of quality and architectural style, the town hall is exceptional for its time. The south-east exposed main facade of the two-story granite building is five axes wide. The two curved stairs that lead to the entrance portal on the upper floor are striking. A bell tower with a curved hood continues in the middle of the roof.
