Manually operated chain hoist designed as a lever hoist

A lever hoist (also called pull stroke) is a hand hoist that is used for lifting, pulling and lashing. Usually these are chain hoists . A lifting movement is generated by operating a lever. Differences in the design and the load chain determine the operating conditions. According to the provisions of BGV D8, lever hoists must be subjected to a UVV inspection at least once a year .

The principle of lever hoists is always the same. A torque is transmitted to a drive shaft via a lever . Load capacities of up to 9,000 kg can be achieved using lever lengths of different sizes, gear ratios and load line reeving. The load is held by a so-called load pressure brake.

The lever hoist may only be used as lashing on trucks if the required lever pressure is indicated on the nameplate.
