Raynier Casamayor Griñán
Raynier Casamayor Griñán (* 1975 in Santiago de Cuba ), known as El Médico ('The Doctor'), is a Cuban musician and practicing doctor .
Life
He began his music career while studying medicine, which he took up in 1993 at the University of Santiago de Cuba , his hometown. With two friends he founded the group Garganta de Fuego (Fire Throat). In 2002 he graduated as a general practitioner. He is a co-founder of Cuban reggaeton (also called Cubatón ) alongside Candyman , Mey Vidal , La Familia , Control Cubano . From 2005 he had success in Spain, especially with his song Chupa Chupa , recorded by Warner Music , which reached number 8 on the Spanish singles chart. In Cuba, El Médico is a star of reggaeton, but due to the low media presence, he is relatively unknown as a person. In his music video for Pin Pon , typical stylistic elements of the genre are satirized, instead of driving in a car, El Médico rides a bicycle through the streets of his hometown.

Movie
In 2011, the Swedish director Daniel Fridell shot the documentary El Médico - The Cubatón Story about Casamayor , at the center of which is the private and social conflict between the continuation of his medical practice, which is close to his heart, and the commercialization of his career as a musician, which is supported by his European music producer stands.
