Razih district

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The district of Razih ( Arabic مديرية رازح, DMG mudiriyyat Rāziḥ ) is a district in the western part of Sa'da Governorate , Yemen . In 2003 the district had 62,915 inhabitants. Since then, the numbers have likely increased through Operation Scorched Earth (عملية الأرض المحروقة) have changed a lot. The district has always been a transit area. The area was "hotly contested both during the Turkish era and during the civil war."

Architectural style

In the 20th century, the district was still very traditional. The residents cultivated an open exchange and increasingly traded with neighboring regions. This was reflected in the architecture. The multi-storey houses were mainly built with a light gray, granite-like stone. Only small air holes and loopholes were made on the lower floors, while larger windows and decorations were also present on the upper floors. In this way they differed significantly from the construction of the Munabbih district .
