ReVolt (ship)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ReVolt is the project name for an autonomously powered Container - feeder vessel , the two electric motors is driven by batteries to be fed.

Technical data of the ReVolt

The development of the ReVolt results from the advances in battery technology over the past twenty years, which enable interesting solutions for ship propulsion.

The concept ship ReVolt - a three-meter-long model is being tested - should be 60 meters long and 15 meters wide and be able to carry 100  TEU . The side height should be 13.2 meters, the draft (loaded) 5 meters and the load-bearing capacity 1250 dwt. A 3,000 kWh battery would enable a range of 100 nautical miles and with 50 kW of propulsion power from the azimuth pod drives with a diameter of 3 m and two blades, the ship reaches an average speed of 6 kn. The charging time of the batteries is specified as two to four hours. The ReVolt is planned by the Norwegian-German classification society DNV GL to relieve the overcrowded Norwegian roads as an autonomous ship; it drives remotely without a crew.
