It was followed in 1969 by Fritz Perls' autobiography In and Out the Garbage Pail and u. a. 1970 Barry Stevens' book Don't Push the River. Aside from gestalt therapy, Steven's book found widespread use in the human potential movement of the 1970s.

Other authors include a. Tai Chi master Al Chung-Liang Huang; Violet Oaklander, who developed Gestalt therapy for children, and John O. Stevens himself with his Gestalt therapy book Awareness (German: The Art of Perception ).
