Rectoversion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The French neologism rectoversion is a combination of the words recto (in French the front side of a painting) and version .

It is understood in the literal sense as a "rotation of the front". The term was introduced by Michel De Caso for his plastic concept, which he pursued from 1991. In a recto-inverted painting, both sides (front and back) are painted, whereby the picture surface has been broken up beforehand. This three-dimensional concept poses the question of the visible (recto - front) and the invisible side (verso - back) and the relationships between them. It also offers a critical approach to the philosophical concept of dualism . In this sense, the rectoversion is a modern metadualism .

In March 2002 the artist movement rectoversion was founded, since 2004 there is also an internet group rectoversion .
